As a child, Vicki Sawyer's father would walk around the yard with her and identify the birds.  She found them to be charming creatures with lots of personality.  It later occurred to her that if they can build nests, then they can make hats.  This is the inspiration for her bird series which has also lead to exploring the personalities of other wildlife such as rabbits and chipmunks. Her goal is to evoke feeling of peace, vibrancy, joy and humor with her paintings.
